At the 2008 Air Nautique AMA Amateur National Championships, the premier amateur motocross race in the world, we were able to catch up with Team Nautique athlete and motocross king James Stewart to get his thoughts on his career thus far and, of course, his favorite things about his Nautique.
Well, I feel that it is a huge compliment for me to be ranked with one of my favorite athletes. I feel really good about that. For people to recognize me as the Tiger Woods of motocross, it lets me know the level I am at in my sport.
It feels really good; in the beginning, it was tough for me because I used to put a lot of pressure on myself to be a perfectionist at such a young age. At the end of the day though, I was happy with my performance. Words can't describe how it feels to be in the position I am today.
I would say winning both World and Supercross titles. Awesome feeling.
A huge role. I was stoked that Air Nautique approached me with the idea of me being the face for their company. The AMA Amateur is the start of everyone's dream in becoming a motocross/supercross phenomenon. I can't thank them enough for the support they've provided throughout my amateur career. Now that I've made a name for myself, I'm glad they are still here supporting me and the many others with dreams of becoming one of motocross' greatest.
I'm really happy with the way things are going right now; I'm fortunate to be in the position that I am in. So, for the rest of the season, I'm going to stay focused on the task at hand and hope things continue to go well.
Aw man! I don't know where to start. That thing is a beast; I love it. The best thing I like about the Nautique is that I have one. I can launch it any where; it handles great and it looks great. I'm pumped on it.
