Q & A With Elite Slalom Skier Chris Parrish

Team Nautique skier Chris Parrish has been skiing from the early age of 2. Since he took up professional water skiing 19 years ago, Chris has built up a stellar record which includes 2 Masters Champion titles, 2 World Records, 8 National Champion titles, World Cup Champion and US Open Champion. Recently, we had the opportunity to talk to Parrish about his thoughts on being the current Slalom World Record holder and his favorite skiing events?

How does it feel to be the current Slalom World Record holder? What do you think contributed most to obtaining this title

It is definitely a big honor. This was the first time I set a world record and it was the most overwhelming thing I've ever experienced. It is a great goal that I was able to go out and accomplish. I couldn't have done it without the right support team, training and coaching. At this event, all of these things came together along with my desire, passion and will to win.

How does it feel to be the Slalom winner at the 2008 Moomba Masters?

I was really excited to win this first big tournament of the year. There was a lot of pressure and the Yarra River's current was pretty strong, but I was in the Tiger Woods' zone; I knew that nothing was going to stop me that day.

What are your favorite skiing events and why?

One of my favorites is the Moomba Masters held in Melbourne, Australia; this is my favorite city in the world. The people are great and the event is amazing. I also really like the Masters. There is so much hype and prestige that goes along with this tournament. So many legends have skied at Callaway Gardens over the years. I've never have had as many goose bumps as I do when I go to the Masters.

What's the best feeling you've had in your career on or off the water?

Definitely breaking my first Slalom World Record. It was the most overwhelming experience. I was so dumbfounded that I wasn't even able to get my vest off.

Talk a little bit about your 196 - what do you like most about it?

Whether I am in the driver's seat or behind the boat, I can put my 196 anywhere and it handles well. The wake is super soft and narrow so the ski does not get displaced going into the water. The Nautique wake makes it easy for slalom skiers.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

I want to give a big thanks to Correct Craft as well as my other sponsors. I am also grateful to my family and friends who have continually supported me along the way. I would not be able to live this dream without their support.
